Smeg kitchen appliances get vibrant remix by Dolce & Gabbana
Not your average toaster Fashion powerhouse Dolce & Gabbana is back at it again with a design collaboration with Italian appliance manufacturer Smeg ahead of this year?s Salone del Mobile in Milan.
This year, they?re debuting small kitchen appliances in a series called ?Sicily Is My Love.? The featured appliances, from a toaster to a coffee maker to a kettle, are adorned with decorations that reference Sicilian traditions and motifs.
As with last year?s limited-edition refrigerators from D&G and Smeg, the two companies turned again to rich and colorful design elements. Golden lemons, purple figs, and vibrant fruits taken from the coast and landscape of Sicily are featured prominently. A blender is decorated with an image of Sicily?s Mount Etna and floral forms, an example of Dolce & Gabbana?s vision to link Sicilian decorative aesthetics and Smeg products. There?s no word right now on how much these new products will cost, but if the price tags on those refrigerators ($33,493.50 for one!) are any indication, they won?t come cheap.
