Restored 1972 Airstream is a vintage camping dream
The trailer boasts custom-made cabinets, furniture, and artwork The iconic Airstream trailer offers a lot to travelers, like a trademark sleek aluminum exterior, lots of space to spread out, and classic interior styling perfect for Instagram. But while we love many of Airstream?s newest models, nothing beats a perfectly restored vintage trailer.
Take this 1972 Airstream Land Yacht?affectionately called Druki?for example. Recently restored in November 2017 by Los Angeles-based Silver Buddha Design, the 25-foot Airstream is now on sale for $78,000. The bespoke build uses all custom-made cabinets, furniture, and artwork. It sleeps four people, two on the dinette that turns into a queen bed and two more on a rear twin bed that also transforms into a queen. After purchasing the trailer from New Mexico, the design firm installed new solar panel, plumbing, battery, entertainment, air conditioning, and heating systems. An all-new custom fiberglass corner shower makes for a spacious bathroom, and the well-appointed kitchen comes with a Furrion cooktop, Vitrifrigo Italian stainless steel fridge, large sink, and plentiful counter space.
Perhaps the best part of the trailer?s restoration is the aesthetic. White walls, neutral counters, and birch-like vinyl flooring makes for an airy, inviting feel that honors Airstream?s original light-filled design. Throw in a few playful touches?check out the raccoon wall art in the bathroom?and you have a restored travel trailer that?s both...
