Noll & Tam is working closely with the City of Los Altos? Project Task Force to design the new $24.75 million Los Altos Community Center ($34.7 million project cost) which will integrate with the surrounding public facilities to meet the current and future needs of the multi-generational community.
The 24,500-square-foot building will include a café, arts and crafts room, movement room, community room, senior room, teen room, kinder prep room, offices, conference rooms, and a kitchen for staff.
The design maximizes the available outdoor spaces with pedestrian pathways, patios, a central courtyard, bocce ball and basketball courts, and a new nature play area, as well as connections to adjacent public facilities.
Architecturally, the building will employ vernacular regional forms and feature a mix of natural finishes and materials such as natural wood and stone to evoke the California landscape. In addition to including parking spaces near the senior center, the plans include an estimated 80 slots of bike parking.
