After the Istanbul based office already won the WAF X Award (Future Project WAFX – Cultural Identity) for its recomposing of the Atatürk Cultural Center, another project of TA_ was now announced as ?highly commended? at this year?s World Architecture Festival in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam/Istanbul – Yesterday, the new Shipyard Project of Tabanlio?lu Architects was honored as highly commended in the category ?Future Projects ? Commercial Mixed Use? at this year?s World Architecture Festival. With its new project at the Golden Horn in Istanbul, TA_ wants to reclaim the identity of this area by redesigning the waterfront. Throughout the history, the Golden Horn has been Istanbul?s inner harbor. During the Republican Period, it became a natural port for merchant vessels and warships, and at the same time a shipyard zone. After 1960s, the region lost its charm under the pressure of socio-economic conditions and became a commercial and industrial center.
The new project that houses marinas, hotels, housing, offices and leisure areas will respect and protect the symbolic silhouette of old Istanbul. Al...
