Designed by Atelier Général Here?s another variation of a site-specific modern residence, this time in the woods of Quebec. Designed by Montreal-based architecture firm Atelier Général, La Roche, or, the rock, as it?s called, perches on a gently sloping hillside and takes in views of the surrounding landscape.
The pentagonal home features three bedrooms and two baths over two stories, with the main living space occupying the top floor. Here, an open-plan living space boasts sliding glass doors that open onto a large wooden terrace on one side and a smaller covered deck on another. A built-in kitchen island forms an unofficial divide between the lounge and the dining area, and the master bedroom is also located here. Two guest bedrooms and a bath are found downstairs. Clad in black-painted timber, the Rock continues the trend of black-clad modern nature residences throughout the world. The interiors, on the other hand, are bright, with white walls, raw ceiling beams, and polished concrete floors.

While one side of the home appears to emerge from ?ascending topography,? the other is propped up by skinny stilts, creating a space below for a carport?and a feeling of airiness. To learn more, head to Dezeen.
