Businesses can now tag themselves ?women-owned? on Google Maps
Just in time for International Women?s Day Just in time for International Women?s Day, Google Maps has released a feature allowing businesses to promote themselves on the platform as being owned, founded, or led by women.
Business owners can now include an icon of the female gender symbol as a descriptor of their listing on Google Maps, much in the same way that attributes like ?Has Wi-Fi? and ?Outdoor seating? can help users and customers decide where to go. The feature came about from Google employee suggestions?which also launched the release of tags last year that indicate that a business is friendly to gay, lesbian, bisexual queer, and transgender individuals.
It can also be seen as a continuation of the web mapping service?s redesign from November 2017 whose new, streamlined look ?better reflects your world, right now.?
