situated amidst the breathtaking western cliffside edge of uluwatu, bali, alexis dornier?s house aperture blends within the surrounding landscape and nature. the residence is divided in three floors: a stone-clad bedroom surrounded by tropical green foliage on the ground floor; a living room, which opens up to an outdoor recreational area on the middle floor; and a top floor bedroom with panoramic views of the indian ocean. additionally, a small pool, a private garden and a deck are located on the terrace of the middle level. Â
Â
the structure?s main material is carefully selected reused timber, combined with glass sliding doors and windows, steel elements, and singaraja limestone cladding. its façade consists of movable screens that filter and soften the piercing tropical sunlight, enabling the external shading of the large glass elements that can be opened on all four sides of the building, which changes the residence?s appearance.
