Zaha Hadid Architects designed a dog kennel
Cute and curvy Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) is among a group of architects, artists, and designers creating dog kennels for Blue Cross for Pets, a United Kingdom-based charity that cares for sick and injured pets and places homeless ones in permanent homes.
Teaming up with the aptly named BowWow Haus London, which is putting on the fundraiser, ZHA has designed ?Cloud,? a cocoon-like wooden kennel attached to a pedestal made from CNC milled plywood (a method of cutting wood using a computer-controlled machine).
The rounded shelter calls to mind Eero Aarnio?s Bubble Chair, or a retro orb chair, but it also definitely bears the organic curves of ZHA?s most recognizable works. Pretty chic for a pet house. Cloud and over 80 other kennels will go on display all around London starting next year then will be up for auction with proceeds going toward renovating the Blue Cross rehoming facility in Kimpton, England, as well as benefitting the U.S.-based Outdoor Arts Foundation and its commitment to support community art projects around the world.
