On a recent trip to Illums Bolighus in Copenhagen this summer we admired vegetable-tanned leather goods from MO Denmark (especially the cutlery pockets, our new obsession). The goods?aprons, place mats, wall hooks, and more?are made from the hides of sustainably raised cattle on the island of Funen in Demark. The hides are tanned using vegetable-tanning techniques and finished with natural fat; the pale cognac color of the tanning deeps with age and use. Here?s a look at some of our favorite products.
