Variation and Differences Between One Way And Two Way Slabs
A slab which is supported by beams on the two opposite sides in a nutshell, carries the load along one direction is a one way slab. For example, we can take veranda slab as one way slab type. There the slab is ranging in the shorter direction in the crosswise direction. When the reinforced concrete slab is supported by beams on all the four sides and the loads are brought by the supports along both directions, that is a two way slabs. Example of two way slab is everywhere in the construction of multi-story buildings. These construction usually use two way slabs.
