Truss and the Method Of Joints Explanations
A structure that is using bar elements connected by pins is actually a truss. If we say that the loads are applied only at nodes than these pins are friction less. So, the truss element can either elongate or shorten the force depending on the type of force that is used. The used method of joints in the video bellow is showing  how to determine the internal forces of truss elements. The images as well are showing this that the video is explaining in easy and understandable way.
