This Portugal hotel is a book lover?s dream
More than 45,000 books line the walls Book lovers, get ready to swoon: The Literary Man Hotel in Obidos, Portugal doesn?t just have a library, the entire hotel is full of books. Located in a medieval village northwest of Lisbon that is over 700 years old, the hotel boasts 30 rooms in a range of styles featuring small touches that pay homage to the literary world.
But where the hotel really differs is in the communal spaces. According to Travel + Leisure, the hotel currently boasts more than 45,000 books with a goal of having more than 100,000. Once an 18th-century monastery, the remodeled space is now full of old-world charm and a hefty amount of wood. You?ll find books in every bit of the building, from the floor to ceiling shelves to stacks on side tables. There?s also a cocktail lounge?with a focus on gin?and a restaurant where the drinks are named after literary legends and the seating is more laid-back lounge than stuffy restaurant. There are even torn book pages under glass table tops and in most of the bedrooms, books are the main decorating item.
Lodging starts around ?90 (about $95) per night. Head over here for more info.
