With The Icon Vienna, the Viennese architectural firm BEHF Architects has created a multifunctional building ensemble that revives the area in Vienna’s 10th district with its open plinth. The three office towers are the landmark at Vienna’s Central Train Station and a model for modern, urban development.
BEHF Architects and German architectural firm JSWD Architekten have joined forces to develop The Icon Vienna with a total area of around 135,000 sqm. The result is an architectural showcase project that stands for innovative and sustainable urban development: the three towers of different heights (88.00 m, 66.00 m, and 38.50 m) impress with their individuality and relation to one another as well as with their openness to the city. The plinth which combines the towers is an interactive space with a variety of shopping and catering areas. With its soft shapes, the trio enables an easy flow of visitors between the towers and through the district. Rather than functioning as an individual structure, THE ICON VIENNA opens up to the city and carefully unites the existing buildings around the Belvedere and the train station. ...
