Terracotta Tiles with a Vintage Vibe from Clé in Sausalito
Sausalito-based tile company Clé recently introduced their first terracotta collection, made up of antique tiles salvaged from centuries-old structures in France and reproductions of dusty Belgian terracotta. Here?s a look.
Above: The 8-Inch Terracotta Star and Cross Tile in Belgian Black are made of blackened clay according to the traditional production methods; the tiles are $13 per piece (which adds up to approximately $14.56 per square foot).
Above: The Belgian reproduction tiles are handmade in square, hex, star, and cross shapes.
Above: The tiles are also available in more traditional, unglazed terracotta; $13 per piece.
Above: The 6-Inch Antique Terracotta Tiles in Provincial Red (available as hexagon or square) have been ?carefully eased from antique French structures,? according to Clé. Each tile is unique in color and patina; prices start at $7.37 per piece (or 4.5 pieces per square foot, $33.16 per square foot).
Above: The blackened clay of the Square Belgian Black French Reproduction has a matte, chalky surface; $6.67 per piece (2.25 pieces per square foot or $15.01 per square foot).
