David Friedlander and Jacqueline Schmidt’s 700-square-foot Brooklyn apartment is full of smart ideas: Sliding doors and Murphy beds throughout, plus a surprisingly spacious-feeling galley kitchen. Among the ideas we’re planning to co-opt: 24-inch stainless steel appliances, a budget faucet, and honed, not polished, marble countertops.
