Brighten up your space with these small additions This week?s edition of House Calls takes us to the coastline of Vancouver, Canada, home of architect Mark Ritchie and Lisa Mingo, who tore down their ranch house and started anew.
The end result is an L-shaped structure that fits seamlessly between the pine trees and the cliffside, with natural light that pours in through the home?s floor-to-ceiling windows. Inside, the home?s neutral palette?made up of white walls, concrete flooring, and plenty of open space?is warmed up by clever splashes of primary color.

Living Room
The open format living-dining-kitchen space is home to a Simon James Kaiser sofa covered in Maharam Paradise fabric and the rug is from Artistic Weavers. The long desk and media console was designed by Ritchie, and sports a veneered white oak top with a solid white oak edge and black melamine interior shelving. The white oak is finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil in Cotton White.
Kitchen
In this ultra-modern kitchen, wood elements are added throughout to break up the white, black, and gray aesthetic. Vig barstools from BoConcept sit at the island and the countertops are Caesarstone Ocean Foam.
