With its behavior like an inverted cantilever with loads applied in the upward direc-tion the spread footings are used in the construction field. A spread footing is a quite rigid element usually applied on the soil stresses that are almost linear and symmetric footing. The soil pressures constitutes the loads carried by the footing that behaves like a slab that is being deformed as the picture bellow shows.
