Soaring Paris loft with indoor Japanese garden wants $2M
The 18th arrondissement home has a 30-foot-high atrium under a glass ceiling What this elegant abode lacks in eye-level windows, it makes up for in its light-giving glass ceiling and frosted front facade. A former industrial space in Paris?s Montmartre neighborhood, the building was cannily transformed into an airy and light-filled apartment retaining the original structure?s steel frame and open layout?and it?s recently hit the market for ?1.68 million ($2 million).
The 2,300-square-foot home has five bedrooms, a large kitchen and dining area, and landing-level library arranged around a 30-foot-tall atrium. The ground floor holds an entry area with storage, as well as the home?s largest bedroom, a bathroom, and laundry room, and a Japanese garden with its soaring bamboo.
Up the stairs on the second floor is the kitchen and dining room, with a window onto public gardens. The floors are cement tile. The study on the landing has a set of custom built-in bookcases. The top floor also holds two more bedrooms.
