Klaus Haapaniemi first popped up on our radar thanks to Tiina Laakonen, who sells his work in the US at her Amagansett shop Tiina. She also uses his whimsically patterned pieces throughout her own house (see Rhapsody in Blue: A Finnish Stylist at Home in the Hamptons).
Founded by Klaus Haapaniemi and Mia Wallenius in 2010, the brand opened its first (and only) shop in 2013 in Shoreditch. “Our design approach is influenced by nature, Finnish folklore, and traditional decorative arts with a modern twist,” according to the shop’s website. Among the offerings: hand-printed textiles, cushions, woven throws, and handmade rugs. Here are some favorites from the collection:
