Wowza Like the milder, NorCal counterpart to L.A.?s legendary Stahl House, this Bay Area home is one where the views say it all. Perched on a hill overlooking Oakland and the San Francisco Bay, the 1930s cottage-style house needed a revamp, and the clients turned to Tel Aviv firm Axelrod Architects. Making the most of the vistas was no doubt a top priority.
All of the main changes were in service of creating an open, modern living space that highlights the panoramic view of the city and beyond. The architects replaced an existing wall facing the entrance with expansive floor-to-ceiling sliding glass, which open up to a deck, of course. They also raised the ceiling, exposing structural beams and adding skylights over the kitchen. A black and white color scheme was employed thoughout the home to keep things minimal, uncluttered, and focused on the ?bay-scape.? What?s not to love"
