The one-time home of Stanley Kubrick, one of the world?s greatest?and most enigmatic?film directors, is on the market in the walled town (also known as a bastide) of Domme in Dordogne, a department in southwestern France. Though details are few, the picturesque, renovated stone villa boasts seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, a large walled garden with pool, two pigeonnier towers (or dovecotes), and an unspecified acreage of traditionally landscaped grounds that overlook the Dordogne valley. Charming countryside elegance abounds throughout the estate by way of hardwood floors, beautiful window frames, shutters, doorways, and other woodwork painted in a pale teal, original stonework on the exterior, what appears to be a wine vault, and much more. Famous for his mastery of spaces and interiors in his films, the director most likely had a unique set up here. If only the original had been preserved. Still, it?s a great house, and it?s asking ?1,485,000, or approximately $1,567,117. Kubrick?s main residence was Childwickbury Manor in Hertfordshire, England.
