Richard Neutra The Bonnet House
The Bonnet House, 1941. Richard Neutra, Architect. This house is currently on the market with many of its systems having been replaced or upgraded. Overall, the house retains much of its original charm. At first glance the house did not read as Neutra’s work but upon closer examination the story become a fairy tail. This series of cubes angled into the hillside lot was widely hailed by critics in ‘Architectural Record’ and ‘Arts & Artists’ magazines. Maybe it does’t resonate with me because it is built on a hill side and I am not getting the inside out feeling. Not my favorite structure by Neutra but I could certainly call it home if I had the opportunity.
