The winner will be announced on October 6 Gearing up for the Royal Institute of British Architects Stirling Prize party next month, RIBA has just announced the shortlist for the 2016 Stephen Lawrence Prize. The prize was established in memory of the teenage aspiring architect who was murdered in 1993. It is intended to encourage fresh architecture talent and showcase projects that have a construction budget of less than £1 million.
Six projects make up the finalists and include a mobile studio, an affordable housing prototype, and a primary school. The award is supported by the Marco Goldschmied Foundation and is judge by Marco Goldschmied, RIBA Past President and Founder of the Marco Goldschmied Foundation, Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon, Doreen Lawrence CBE (mother of Stephen Lawrence), and Niall McLaughlin, founder of 2015 prize winner Niall McLaughlin Architects.
