Rent this black-clad off-grid cabin for your next holiday
Designed by Anna-Marie Chin Architects This off-grid cabin set on a gorgeous site near Queenstown, New Zealand, comes highly recommended: It was awarded the country?s best small home in 2016, among other accolades. Designed by Anna-Marie Chin Architects, the 1,291-square-foot off-grid home, known as Tom?s House, combines the features of vernacular cabin architecture with contemporary twists, almost literally.
Clad in on-trend black facade, the simple structure boasts an asymmetrical silhouette that mimics the surrounding mountain landscape. This shape also allows for an oversized entrance and a double-height living area characterized by glazed expanses and sliding glass doors that optimize views and allow for indoor-outdoor living. The contemporary interiors are clad in a simple plywood, but black accents like the window frames, kitchen cabinetry, and other details create a connection to the exterior. Polished concrete floors lend an industrial feel to the space. As for bedrooms, there are three and can accommodate up to six people?which makes it an ideal spot to rent for your next holiday. Located just minutes from Jack?s Point and set right outside Kawarau Falls, the home can be booked through Airbnb. Take a look.
