Renovated Istanbul?s Historic Library with a Rare Book Collection

Turkish firm Tabanlioglu Architects attended to renovate the Beyazit Public Library of Istanbul, full of rare book collections. This historic building , dating from 1884, was originally a soup kitchen and a place for travelers with a kitchen, a primary school, a hospital and a hammam. Adjacent to the Mosque of Beyaz?t, the library had its interior completely re-organized, restored and redecorated by these architects, with a roof featuring several domes, plane trees, new lighting installations, a traditional coffee and a bouquiniste.
