Pride and Prejudice home in English countryside hits market for $11.7 million
Dreamy If you?ve ever watched Pride and Prejudice (the original BBC TV series, not the movie with Keira Knightley) and wished you could live that life, here?s your chance.
Luckington Court, home to the Bennett family in the 1995 adaptation, is on the market for the first time in 70 years, and it?s asking £9 million (around $11.7 million).
The Grade II-listed, 156-acre estate is two miles from Badminton, a village in Gloucestershire, England. There?s more than 9,600 square feet of living space, with seven bedrooms and secondary buildings that include traditional stables, five cottages and a number of modern farm buildings. Seasonal springs run through the estate to the nearby river Avon. The mansion had its own history before making an appearance in the TV series: The manor?s current site was once owned by King Harold in 1066, and in the 1940s, it was rented by Guy Vansittart, a member of the Z Unit, a wartime guerrilla unit that operated behind enemy lines in World War II.
