This simple prefabricated home in Vallée de Joux, Switzerland, overlooks the gently rolling hills of Lac de Joux. Ralph Germann Architects designed the home, called ?House MW,? for a family on a budget, though it looks anything but cheap.

The 2,500-square-foot home, powered by solar panels, is built from a concrete skeleton and clad in prefab components made from local spruce. From the outside, House MW has the markings of a pared back modern farmhouse?pitched roof, timber planks?but on the inside, it looks like a sleek Scandinavian getaway.

The architects designed the space to evoke quietness. The interior boasts concrete stairs, birch plywood walls, and neutral toned furniture. It?s a perfectly simple backdrop for the main attraction: the windows that look out onto the shimmering lake below.
