Pennsylvania Courthouse Gets a Big Copper Makeover
The Bradford County Courthouse is a historic building that has been an emblem of Bradford County, Pennsylvania, since its inauguration in 1898. This year, the Bradford County Courthouse unveiled a new exterior that featured new beautiful copper details. The building had its roof and dome restored with man?s first metal!

The buildings? main roof featured a relatively low slope. This characteristic challenged designers on the decision of what material to use on the Courthouse?s top. The roof replacement options were not straightforward and after careful consideration and the approval of the State Historic Preservation Office, the design team chose batten seam copper roofing for the replacement. Copper was chosen to modernize the courthouse due to its long service life, sustainability for the low slope of the roof, appropriateness for buildings of the Courthouse?s era, and its ability to have a full-bodied snow retaining system.

The Courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, so if you have a thing for antique buildings, this is a construction you definitely want to add to your sightseeing list.
