Architect Stan Sackley built it in 1966 for his parents Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day" Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.
Location: Palm Springs, California
Price: $800,000
This 1966 home might as well be a time capsule, even if stands empty. Designed by California modernist architect Stan Sackley for his parents, the 1,959-square-foot three bedroom post-and-beam stayed in the family for over 40 years, according to the listing, and appears to be on the market for the first time ever.
Featuring Sackley?s trademark flat roof, the midcentury house also boasts an open floor plan, extensive paneling in Douglas fir on the walls and ceiling, other slatted details and louvers, clerestory windows, floor-to-ceiling glazing facing the pool, and a period kitchen. Other surprising amenities include a hidden wet bar, original walkway fountain, brick fireplace, built-in shelving, and car port. The bedrooms are spacious, with the master suite featuring a walk-in closet. A few updates have been made to the property, including in the bathrooms and the flooring, but those need to be reworked in order to make the home shine. Located at 1300 South Sagebrush Road, the residence is yours for $800,000.
