Located on the top floor of a Victorian school conversion, Cassandra Ellis’s split-level apartment is up for sale (a bit of context: we’ve admired it before in our post Simple, Useful, Beautiful: A New Line of Furniture from Cassandra Ellis). The interiors are done up in a pleasing mix of midcentury classics (sculptural lanterns from the Noguchi Akari line, modern sconces from Artemide) and traditionally detailed pieces from her own collection of furniture and household accessories. “For me, a home is more about how it feels rather than how it looks,” Cassandra tells The Modern House, “so I have always wanted to understand how to create the perfect container. The things I won’t compromise on are light, flow, and storytelling, or potential for these, so that you can breathe. Everything else can be fixed.” Join us for a tour. Above: The walls are painted in Little Greene’s French Grey throughout. The living room is anchored by a Chesterfield Sofa and a Big Chair of Cassandra’s own design. Radiator heaters and structural columns become sculptural when painted black.
