New skyscraper is China's second, world's fifth-tallest

It?s 100 meters shorter than Shanghai Tower Things are looking way up in China?and not just on the bridge front. International architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox, which is based in New York City and designed Flatiron?s tallest building, has finished construction on a towering 530-meter-tall (1,739 feet) skyscraper in Guangzhou, the third largest city in China after Beijing and Shanghai.
Called the CTF Finance Center and located in Zhujiang New Town overlooking the Pearl River, it is the tallest in the city and the second tallest in all of China after the Shanghai Tower?which is over 100 meters taller and measures 632 meters (2073 feet).
CTF is the world?s fifth tallest skyscraper, according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, and comprises 111 stories and includes offices, a conference center, hotel, and subterranean shopping concourse that connects to public transportation. The sleek, glass-clad building has four notches on its exterior that correspond to the structure?s different functions, with each level relating to the heights of various surrounding buildings. According to Dezeen, the skyscraper is supported by a square core, eight concrete columns, four levels of steel outriggers, and six sets of double-layer belt trusses. Have a look below.
