as the chinese lunar new year approaches, people stroll around flower markets with friends and families, purchasing auspicious dolls and festive flowers to decorate their homes, making the flower market a type of ?temple? during this time of the year. napp studio combined the meaning of the market and the temple with this opportunity to design a unique entrance to the flower market.

 
 
taking references from traditional chinese temple gateway, napp studio translated the highly complex architectural expression into an abstract form as an entrance to the flower market. the designers symbolically infused the ?temple? typology into the market environment. instead of erecting a solid mass, a lattice structure was adopted to minimize the visual blockage and structural load, while still achieving a highly recognizable landmark that can be seen from a distance.
 
 
metal pipes made out of plain steel, will be electroplated gold or copper, and become the primary material along with a couple of concrete masses on either side as footings. the reflective, round geometry of the tubes create a gleaming golden gate when sunlight hits, celebrating the entry of the flower market. furthermore, the gateway serves as a photogenic spot that attracts families and friends to take pictures, constructing invaluable memories that conclude the journey of the previous year.
