Montauk Beach House by Space Exploration
New York City-based Space Exploration reimagined a three-story, split level home in Montauk, New York owned by a young family. The Montauk Beach House sits atop a densely wooded bluff surrounded by greenery and features views of Fort Pond and Fort Pond Bay. The flipped floor plan design has an open kitchen and living room situated on the top floor where all the socializing takes place.
The main living area benefits from a large skylight and sliding glass doors that flood the space with natural light.
Overall, the interior was designed with a fairly neutral color palette along with white walls and floors and light, warm woods. The white surfaces bounce light around giving the space an open, airy feel.
The furnishings were acquired by the owners throughout their travels to Europe, Morocco, and Central America, resulting in an eclectic look.
Simple wooden stairs mirror the home’s informal feel along with the light wooden floors.
