This week?s edition of House Calls takes us to Germantown, New York, where first-time homebuyers Andrew Gardner and Alex Batkin carefully renovated their circa-1860 Victorian home.
The renovation project, which included restoring the home back to its original character, transformed the structure into a ?calm and minimalist? space. Both the exterior and interior are clad in Benjamin Moore?s Simply White, while the couple?s collection of eclectic furnishings offset the home?s original elements, such as the pine plank flooring. Living room
The living room is home to a vintage Hans Wegner sofa with original upholstery, purchased at Finch in Hudson, New York. The marble coffee table was a Craigslist find, and the blue lounger and cream ottoman were from Hammertown?s annual sale. The loveseat is also vintage Hans Wegner with original upholstery, and the light fixture above was originally in Gardner?s parents? home. The stove is from Vermont Castings, and the Persian Kilim rug was found at an antiques bar in Rhinebeck, New York.
