Makers House by Liddicoat & Goldhill
The makers house by Liddicoat & Goldhill is a wonderful display of functionality and space. The shape of the house is quite different but every angle and window was critically thought out. The first thing I noticed about the house were the floors. I don’t think i remember ever seeing such rich coloring in wood flooring. The floors are a richly coloured and durable Rhodesian mahogany parquet floor reclaimed from Hove Fire Station in the 1970s, how cool is that. The group floor has an industrial feel with the structural beams showing through. I also get a loft vibe with there being such a large open space. The roofing and roof line allow the house to stand on its own while be sandwiched in-between two victorian houses.
