Location: Cerro San Luis, Santiago de Chile, Chile
Lyon 1633 Apartment Building located on 1200 sqm site, which has a rather narrow front to the public space, but it is long enough to allow the design of a residential project.
It is conceived as a long block of 32 apartments distributed in 6 stories, leaving the first one open with small enclosures for accesses and services and a few parking spots.
This level is presented as a continuity of the pedestrian public space immediately adjacent to the site, which is a typical attribute of the residential architecture in this area which proliferated in the 60?s and 70´s.
That is why we deliberately chose not to force divisions between the public and private space, but on the contrary, this limit becomes diffuse and the lobby of the building is practically a projection of the outer space, something that can be illustrated by the concrete bench that starts on the sidewalk and goes into the lobby, inviting people to the interior in a fluent way.
