This incredible home in Nashville, known as the Hyde-Stephens house, was built by the Hyde family before the Civil War in 1860. It also happened to be the home of Jesse James and his brother Frank, the notorious guerrilla outlaws active in Missouri, who lived there between 1877 and 1881, according to this account.
Aside from its rich history, the residence still boasts stunning original ornamentation and grandly proportioned rooms that are difficult to come by in contemporary architecture. Now, a complete, two-year rehabilitation has brought this beauty back to life (here?s a look at its pre-renovation condition).
Measuring approximately 2,244 square feet, the wooden dwelling sits on just under an acre of land and features the loveliest covered front porch with original Victorian embellishments. It is said to have been added at the turn of the 19th century, and although it appears to be missing two of the center posts (there are four shown here), the porch still looks like a treasure.
