Yes, more hacks! Launched just in time for NYCxDesign 2017, which is unfolding this month across New York City, the new showroom for Danish brand Reform?a specialist in customizing Ikea cabinets?and American flooring company Madera serves as a hub for Scandinavian design. Housed in a former warehouse near Brooklyn Navy Yard, the open-plan space now features a series of kitchen and flooring setups, each spruced up with products from 28 Scandinavian design brands chosen by Reform.
The pared-back interior covers 4,000 square feet, with most surfaces washed in white, a favorite Scandi decor style and an easy way to highlight the products. Among the setups are a sawn smoked oak Ikea hack by Copenhagen-based Norm Architects and an aluminum design by Danish architect Sigurd Larsen. For folks looking to spice up the same old Ikea goods, options are expanding. In addition to Reform, there?s now also Plykea, a new London company that offers bespoke plywood doors, drawer fronts, worktops, and cover panels for Ikea?s Metod cabinets.
