Hungarian-born craftsman András Gipp comes from four generations of makers: His father and grandfather ?craft[ed] everything from beds to bowls with their hands.? Now Gipp continues the tradition in upstate New York, where he has launched Hudson Workshop, a line of furniture made from sustainable, local hardwoods. Here?s a look at the collection.

Above: Gipp ?fell in love with wood in [Hungary’s] Bakony Forest where he ran wild as a child, marveling at the warmth of this living medium.? His signature design is the Hudson High Chair, available in maple, black walnut, birch, and ash with a leather and brass strap. The chair does not have a tray and instead “pulls right up to the table, so your child can join in the family meal from day one.”
