karina wiciak of wamhouse studio has envisioned ?greenhouse? ? a modern cottage and holiday home inspired by the traditional barn architecture of polish villages. as the name suggests, the house is designed for a rural location, with grass covering parts of the walls and roof structure, seamlessly blending into the countryside context. the conceptual project also makes reference to deconstructivism, much like ?pentahouse? ? the previous work from wamhouse studio.

greenhouse is designed by wamhouse studio with a total usable area of almost 1937.5 ft2 (180 m2). the house has a kitchen with a small dining room and a door to a grassy terrace. on the ground floor there is also a bathroom and a living room with large dining room in the orangery with large sliding doors. upstairs, there is a mezzanine bedroom, small library and an additional bathroom. despite the relatively large area, there are only a few rooms as the house is imagined to optimise space and freedom, like the countryside landscape.
 
 
as a conceptual project, the design is approached with a ?sense of humor?, which can be seen from the inclined walls and dummy doors and windows. an offset grassy pavement leads to wooden doors with a crooked wooden window above, while in the garden, concrete pigs make mischief. overall, by incorporating fantastical elements and a variety of architectural inspiration, ?greenhouse? makes for a fun modern cottage while ...
