In layman?s terms, that?s a fancy schmancy helicopter that was previously used for search-and-rescue. According to their website, Martyn Steedman and his wife Louise bought the helicopter at auction in March 2016 and have spent tens of thousands of dollars converting it into a luxurious?but quirky?hotel room.
The helicopter has been reworked inside and out, with the exterior getting new rotor blades, paint, and lighting. Inside, a surprisingly spacious interior sleeps a family of five (2 adults and 3 children) in three different beds: a double, a triple, and a single bed in the tail. The helicopter also boasts a lot of light thanks to a sun dome and double glazed patio doors that were added to the side. The soothing interior is an all-white paint and pops of blues and reds lighten up the vibe.
Steedman replaced the bulky sonar station with a shower room and mini-kitchen, but he kept the helicopter?s cockpit. New swivel seats and a table provide a great spot to enjoy the views of the Carse of Stirling, and guests can still enjoy the original dashboard, roof panel switches and foot pedals.
