Geogrid – Why to Use it as a Material for Road Construction"
Geogrid is geosynthetic material which is frequently used to reinforce soils and similar materials. The most common use is for reinforcement of retaining walls, as well as subbases or subsoils below roads or structures. Soils pull often apart under the tension. So, when the soil has this material, the result is strong in tension product. This way the material allows transfer of the forces to a larger area of soil than otherwise.
Geogrid and What is it Made of" They are commonly made of polymer materials (as polyester, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene or polyproylene). They may be woven or knitted from yarns, heat-welded from strips of material, or produced by punching a regular pattern of holes in sheets of material, then stretched into a grid.
