Furniture brand Blu Dot now sells a minimalist bike
The brand is also donating to the World Bicycle Relief Fund The kind furniture store you visit when you outgrow IKEA, Blu Dot is known for making great-looking modern pieces at competitive prices. Now, their origami-like metal chairs and low-slung sofas will be joined by a two-wheeled contraption.
Blu Dot has designed a bike.
"Our approach to furniture is trying to do the least amount of design possible while still creating something beautiful and useful,? said Blu Dot designer Scott Smrstick in an interview with Co.Design. That philosophy applied equally to their latest creation, a stripped-down light-blue bicycle.
Collaborating with Minnesota-based Handsome Cycles, Blu Dot?s designers created an uncluttered, classic-looking vehicle with leather seats and grips, curved handlebars, and none of the wires or cables you might see on the average modern bike.
For every $799 Blu Dot x Handsome bike sold, the company will donate a hearty Buffalo Bike through the Bicycle Relief Fund to someone in need of transportation in developing countries around the world.
