Fundamental Furniture from Four/Quarter in San Francisco

Sergio Traverso and Kenny Johnson, two furniture designers on the up, first met in the wood shop of San Francisco firm Ohio Design in 2013. After honing their design skills, they started their own company, Four/Quarter, a name referring to a hardwood measurement (4/4). With backgrounds in industrial design, Sergio and Kenny draw inspiration from sculpture and architecture (they cite Alvar Aalto and Le Corbusier as inspiration). Working with oak, ash, walnut, and Douglas fir, Four/Quarter designs furniture with a fundamental simplicity. Here, a closer look at the current offering, all made to order from their workshop on San Francisco?s Treasure Island.
