Fu De Keng Public Cemetery, Taiwan
Visual artists Lilly Kaohsiung and Yin captured Fu De Keng public cemetery in Taiwan during the Qingming festival of China. Qingming festival, also known as Tomb Sweeping Day, is a traditional Chinese festival observed by the Han Chinese of mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and some other Asian countries. On this day Chinese families commemorate and pay respects to their ancestors. The name, Tomb Sweeping Day, comes from the tradition of traveling to your ancestors’ tombs to sweep or clean them. In addition to tomb sweeping, Chinese families will also travel to the countryside to plant willows or fly kites.
