The entire process will take 6 to 8 months The last time we checked in with Maine housing startup EcoCor, the company just launched a partnership with Richard Pedranti Architects (RPA) to offer a series of prefab homes built to rigorous Passive House standards for energy efficiency. A few months later, EcoCor?s first build is well underway.
Over the past six weeks, RPA has been working with jewelry designer Elizabeth Scott on a customized EcoCor prefab passive house that will be built next to the solar passive home where she grew up. Scott decided to go with the Goldenrod model, which is a simple gabled structure to be outfitted with three bedrooms and four baths over one and a half stories. Price-wise, the Goldenrod comes in at about $350,000, making it a mid-range option in the 11-model line. In the coming weeks, EcoCor?s production facility will be creating the panelized wall and roof components based on instructions from RPA?s digital models and using equipment imported from Sweden. The fabricated components will then be transported to the site for assembly by local building partners. The entire process is expected to take 6 to 8 months. Stay tuned to see the finished result.
