The House of Finn Juhl is located in Hakuba in the Japanese Alps A suave, new hotel has opened in Japan, and it is entirely kitted out with furniture by Danish modern design master Finn Juhl. Called, aptly, House of Finn Juhl, the boutique hotel, located in the small town of Hakuba and surrounded by the Japanese Alps, combines Scandinavian design sensibilities with Japanese elegance.
House of Finn Juhl occupies a former lodge and now makes up six double guest rooms (each named after a Juhl piece, of course), a dining hall, several lounge areas, and a basement bar. The spaces are outfitted with pieces all designed by Juhl and produced by OneCollection, the Danish furniture company that was given the rights to his designs by Hanne Wilhelm Hansen, Juhl?s widow. The hotel also acts a showroom for OneCollection.
As for the interiors, they are characterized by simple white walls, exposed beams, hardwood floors, and an open layout in the common areas.
House of Finn Juhl follows in the footsteps of that other icon of midcentury hotel design, Hotel Okura in Tokyo.
