A fantastic custom-designed home is up for sale in Mendocino, a bohemian enclave on the coast of Northern California. Constructed from reclaimed timber by local craftsman Harold Brayton, the rustic getaway boasts a combination of midcentury and Arts and Crafts styles (its date of completion is unknown) but is decidedly a creation of its own.

The 2,800-square-foot residence, dubbed Timbers, unfurls across a unique floorplan that frames views of the ocean and beyond by way of a sloping, angled roof with large overhangs and a wraparound deck on the second floor. Oversized picture windows throughout flood the space with natural light, balancing out the effect of the interior?s thick beams and other built-ins.
A master suite and two additional bedrooms, each with its own full bathroom, occupy the first floor, where a sunroom is also located. A bespoke open staircase leads to the second floor, where the home?s main living area is found. Here, an open-plan lounge anchored by a central brick fireplace flows into a period kitchen and dining area. Pacific Ocean and lighthouse views surround this space, and access to the aforementioned deck offers indoor-outdoor living.
