Expansion Bridge Joint Construction and Use
An expansion joint also known as movement joint is designed for safe absorption of the heat-induced expansion and contraction of construction materials. It absorbs the vibrations, hold the connecting parts together, allows movement due to ground settlement or earthquakes. They are commonly found between sections of bridges, buildings, piping systems, railway tracks, sidewalks, ships, and many other structures.
