This is a bona fide Eichler home located near the New York-New Jersey border, one of just three houses the famed midcentury developer built on the East Coast. Completed in 1962, the 2,060-square-foot abode located at 130 Grotke Road offers the quintessential Eichler post-and-beam fare.
Wrapping around an open-sky atrium are an open-plan living room, formal dining, kitchen with built-in eating area, plus four bedrooms, a family room, and two newly remodeled bathrooms. Glass walls abound, including sliding doors to the exterior patio, and floors are radiant-heated. Last sold in June 2010 for $375,000, the house has returned to the market for $489,900. In an interview with Realtor, current owner Tim Santos talks a bit about experiencing some Californian Modernism in New York:
"Honestly, a blizzard with an atrium is an unreal experience. It?s sort of like a snow globe that comes alive in the middle of your house. I don?t think there are many people in the world that can relate to that."
